Coastal Flow Measurement’s Director of Human Resources, Elizabeth Wojtowicz, successfully completed the Aramco Houston Half Marathon on January 15, 2017. Elizabeth is an experienced runner who has completed full marathons, half marathons, and other competitive events. This latest race was the 20th time that Elizabeth has competed in a half marathon. She began her commitment to running by competing in cross country in high school and, after an extended absence for family and career, returned to competitive running with a renewed dedication and focus.
The Aramco Houston Half Marathon, held jointly with the Chevron Houston Marathon, represents the largest single-day sporting event in Houston. A total of 13,500 were registered for the Half Marathon and another 13,500 for the Marathon, the maximum allowed for each and the 12th consecutive sell-out year. In addition to the 27,000 runners, approximately 250,000 spectators viewed the races in person, and many more followed on TV and through streaming media.
Despite a warm, humid day (even by Houston’s average January weather standards), once the starting gun went off at 7:00 a.m. Elizabeth and her fellow half-marathoners ran a very strong, extremely competitive race. Elizabeth finished in the top 10% of her age group, placing 225th out of 2306.
With yet another successful distance race completed, Elizabeth is looking forward to continuing her training and planning for her next event. In the meantime, her family, friends, and coworkers at Coastal Flow all extend their sincere congratulations on the very impressive completion of the 2017 Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Way to go, Elizabeth!!
