Coastal Flow attends 11th Annual Cast for the Cure
This year's
Cast for the Cure, held this past weekend August 17th – 19th, was a great success. With an outstanding turn out of supporters and attendees, the event raised $275,000 for Cystic Fibrosis, a record amount. This was the 11th annual
Cast for the Cure, a fishing tournament held in Rockport, Texas, and attended by top sponsors from the oil & gas industry in the Houston area. Since its inception,
Cast for the Cure has made $1.7 million towards the research and cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Cast for the Cure has grown from 19 boats and 36 anglers in 1991, to this year's 79 boats and 158 anglers, not to mention friends and family who attended silent auction and other events over the weekend.

Coastal Flow has been committed to raising and donating money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for years, and has attended
Cast for the Cure as a sponsor many times. Additionally, we are currently hosting an online auction,
Click for the Cure, and are about to begin a series of educational seminars, Lunch & Learns, both of which donate all proceeds to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Coastal Flow also hosts an annual crawfish boil,
Crawin' for the Cure, which raised over $14,000 this past year. With these events combined, and the help of our community and generous sponsors, we have been able to raise $65,000 in the past year for Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 people in the U.S. alone, making it one of the most common life-shortening inherited conditions. Today, thanks to continued foundation-supported research and specialized care, the median age of survival is almost forty years old — more than double that of just a generation ago. Because of these dedicated donors, researchers have developed a revolutionary medication, Kalydeco, the first drug in history to treat the basic defect that causes CF — ultimately, the first real cure for the disease. All of the money needed to research, test, and continue to produce this type of medication comes from events like
Cast for the Cure and the generous donors and sponsors who join in the fight against CF. Coastal Flow is proud to be a part of events like this, and we plan to continue our involvement progressively for years to come.
