We are pleased to introduce you to Mrs. Kellie Morris, Corporate Secretary for Coastal Flow Measurement and our current Team Member of the Month. In 1979, at the tender age of 16, Kellie joined Coastal Flow through a local high school Vocational Office Education (VOE) program as a part-time secretary. The following year she graduated from high school in the greater Houston, Texas area and, according to our personnel records, became a full-time employee the very next day.

When Kellie was hired, she had exceptional secretarial skills. She was capable of accurately typing over 100 words per minute, took shorthand to record meeting minutes and dictation, was extremely proficient in ten-key data entry/processing and, above all, was (and is) a hard worker with outstanding organizational skills. Whether coming to work for Coastal Flow was a blessing or a curse for Kellie is a question that only she can answer. But for our company, it was truly a blessing and the timing was perfect since Coastal Flow, a small family-owned business, was about to change.

There were fewer than 25 total employees and only a single corporate base of operations when Kellie joined Coastal Flow Measurement. Since then, our company has grown to more than 150 employees and multiple operating facilities across Texas. For her first 21 years with Coastal Flow, Kellie was executive assistant to the company founder and owner, Jerry Fillman, providing a strong, steady influence through all of the peaks and valleys associated with growing a new business. In the year 2000, Mr. Fillman, the only boss she ever had, unexpectedly passed away. Kellie immediately began working directly for the new CEO and Board of Directors and was highly instrumental in the transition from the first generation of ownership to the second. As Coastal Flow's current Corporate Secretary, Kellie's duties over the past 31 years have ranged from mail-person, file clerk, and receptionist, through general accounting clerk, administrative assistant, human resources specialist, and treasurer, to counselor and confidante to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Kellie Morris is also as devoted to her family as she is to her job. She's been married for 30 years to her high school sweetheart, is the mother of a beautiful daughter, and is proud as can be of her baby granddaughter. If that weren't enough, Kellie and her husband, Ricky, an active member of the local Arabia Shrine Temple, both generously give their time to raising money for the Children's Burn Center in Galveston and the Orthopedic Center for Children in Houston. Kellie's commitment to her family, community and job makes us proud to recognize her as an indispensable Coastal Flow employee and our latest Team Member of the Month.
