| BirdDog is a
remote data retrieval service designed by Coastal Flow Measurement Companies ® that provides our customers with Internet access to their electronic
gas measurement and/or field data. It sniffs out alarm conditions automatically
contacting our customer in the event of an upset condition or flow rate change,
and provides the data collection necessary for downstream data management
and auditing.
BirdDog communicates with a multitude of electronic gas measurement (EGM)
devices using cellular or landline phones, making it a versatile solution
for monitoring both production and sales. This allows the producer, transporter,
or buyer of natural gas an opportunity to access up-to-date operational
data, and drastically reduce downtime in the event of equipment failure
or upsets. The service also provides an effective means for verifying sales
when utilized as an auditing device.
The service schedules routine data retrieval and automatically updates
reports and graphs for viewing and analysis. Through a password protected
log-on system, the user may access critical flow information from anywhere
Internet access is available. The reports include a System Summary, Current
Flow Data Report, Hourly Volume Report, Daily Volume Report, Station Alarm
Log, Decline Curve, Previous Months Report, and Well Data Report. The volume reports include
graphing options to better evaluate flow rate and variable activity.
BirdDog flushes out problems and sends an alarm anytime an upset condition
is identified. Alarm messages may be sent via an alpha pager, e-mail,
or facsimile. If your EGM device is equipped with additional I/O ports,
peripheral equipment such as liquid turbine meters, compressors, tank
levels and wellhead pressures may be monitored. The station-alarm feature
may be the most beneficial in the system since it effectively reduces
downtime and increases profitability.
BirdDog collects the audit trail records required by your measurement
department to review, recalculate, and finalize reporting according to
API Chapter 21 - Flow Measurement Using Electronic Metering Standards.
Since many pipeline companies cannot furnish an acceptable audit trail
package, installing a separate flow computer in parallel with the sales
recorder is one of the best means to verify that you are receiving credit
for every MMBtu of gas delivered..........effectively BirdDogging the
sales meter.
